‘E-auction increased railways’ efficiency’

November 3: Adoption of key technology enablers like e-auction, e-procurement and e-payment has increased efficiency, economy and transparency within the Indian Railways, R K Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway, said.

Speaking at a seminar on “Combating Corruption – Technology as an Enabler”, jointly organised by Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway and Metro Railway in Kolkata, Gupta said, “Extensive use of internet, social media etc has provided opportunities to citizens to get more desired and acceptable information.”

He added that efficiency and objectivity play key roles in eradicating corruption from any government organisation and that use of information technology can effectively combat corrupt practices by eliminating or minimising human interface.
