‘Saudi pet coke supplies impact yet to be felt in India’

January 8: Supply of pet coke from Saudi Arabia’s SATORP refinery commenced recently but its impact is not yet visible so far as India is concerned, an official from a cement company said.

“It (the supply from SATORP) has just started but the impact on prices may be visible after the end of this month. At present, it might be supplying against its old orders,” the official said.

The official of the company, which procures around 600,000 tons of imported pet coke, said it has not signed any new recent deals for imported pet coke.

“My last deal was in end-November, at about $87 per ton CIF. There have been no deals of late from my side as everybody is in holiday mood! New deals will start taking place once the new rates start coming in, in a day or two. Till the rates come in, we cannot do much,” the official added.
