108 km road to be built for coal in Indonesia
13 Jul 2015
Jambi Governor Hasan Basri Agus said on Sunday that mining company PT Sinar Anugerah Sukses (SAS) would develop a 108-kilometer road with a width of 30 meters specially designed for coal transportation, and would aim to complete the project in 2017.
Hasan said the road, which would stretch from Pauh in Sarolangun regency to Aur Duri in Jambi city, would be connected to another road leading to Ujung Jabung in East Tanjungjabung regency.
“The road will divide the western to eastern parts of the province and be the beginning of a toll road,” he said.
PT SAS commissioner Sugiono said the road would pass through 12 villages, four districts and three regencies — Sarolangun, Batanghari and Muarojambi.
“The road will be built to accommodate heavy vehicles that can load 25 tons [of coal],” Sugiono said.
He said his company managed 1,000 hectares of mining concession area and produced 25,000 tons per year.
