2 firms clear tech rounds for Marki coal block

Nagpur: Two companies have cleared technical rounds for the Marki Zari Zamani Adkoli coal block located in Yavatmal district. The block was listed for auction under the 18th tranche of bidding.
The companies — Maa Durga Coal & Minerals and Nilkanth Infra Mining Limited — have now qualified for financial bidding.
The technical rounds were conducted on parameters set by the Ministry of Coal, which is followed by offering bids on the basis of revenue share offered to the government.

The mine is located in the Mukutban area of Yavatmal’s Zari Zamani taluka. The block is connected to the Warora-Majri-Wani Adilabad section of broad gauge railway which in turn connects the Nagpur, Chandrapur and Adilabad junctions on the main line. Spread in an area of 2.39 square km, the land is 65% forest as per the forest survey of India (FSI) map.

The Mukutban area also has coal mines managed by the private sector apart from having limestone deposits and cement units.
