New User27 of the 42 operational blocks are providing coal to power sector

December 16: As many as 27 operational coal blocks are supplying coal to power generation companies while 11 are being utilised for cement, aluminium and steel production, and 4 blocks are being mined commercially by state government undertakings, a ministry official said.
Though the sector may be different, ultimately, most of the coal from the operational blocks are being used for power generation either by utilities or for captive power generation, industry sources said.
