7 lignite, coal blocks identified for UCG, says Goyal

December 11: Piyush Goyal, the Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy, said in the Lok Sabha that 7 blocks (5 lignite & 2 coal) have been identified for development of underground coal gasification by the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) in consultation with organisations like Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC), Geological Survey of India (GSI), Director General of Mine Safety (DGMS), Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).

 These lignite blocks are Sindhari West, Barmer, Rajasthan; Chokla North, Barmer, Rajasthan; Nimbalkot, Barmer, Rajasthan; Nagurda, Barmer, Rajasthan; In Gujarat, the block is in Dungra, Surat. That apart, the coal blocks are Yellendu (Dip Side)-SCCL and Bandha-Singrauli Main Basin.
