May 30: As incumbent Chairman S Narsing Rao has tendered in his resignation, Dr A K Dubey, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Coal (MoC), may take up the post as interim Chairman of Coal India Ltd (CIL), according to information available with ICMW.
The decision in this regard, however, is yet to be finalised, informed sources said.
Rao has recently put in his papers and is waiting for the government to release him from his current position.
Sources said Rao’s resignation may be accepted by the ministry next week.
A 1986 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Rao was appointed chief of the world's largest coal producer in April 2012 for a five-year tenure. He was due to retire in 2018.
