APGENCO’s coal import nil in Oct

November 19: The import of steam coal by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO) during October 2013 stood at nil, while 141,000 tons were imported during the month of September, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.

In October 2012, APGENCO’s coal imports stood at 355,000 tons.

During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, coal imports by APGENCO stood at 874,000 tons while the same stood much higher at 1,536,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2012-13, data revealed.

The utility’s imports during the first seven months, however, were only about 60% of the target of 1,458,000 tons set for the period by CEA.
