APGenco signs MoUs to procure coal

The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGenco) is putting all efforts to procure sufficient coal to run its units with full capacity, said K Vijayanand, chairman and managing director.
The entity is importing 400,000 tonne coal from other countries, and had also recently signed MoUs with Western and Mahanadhi coalfields for supply of 200,000 tonne coal from each field, he told mediapersons here today. With this, it could maintain 15 days' coal stock at all its power plants, he stated.
The government is currently supplying 130-132 million units every day. It has also started negotiations with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to get another 4-5 million units a day, according to him.
Vijayanand today conducted a review meeting with AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) and directed official to complete 400 kv and 132 kv power line works, and new sub stations construction works at the earliest. The government's cumulative dues from the last five-six years to APEPDCL stand at Rs 1,000 crore, said MV Seshagiri Rao, chairman and managing director, APEPDCL.
