Adani Kandla terminal ready to berth first ship

January 9: Adani Kandla Bulk Terminal Pvt Ltd, a PPP project at Kandla Port, is ready to berth its first ship, a source told ICMW.

“Adani Kandla Bulk Terminal Pvt Ltd at Tuna in Gujarat is ready and waiting for its first ship any day now,” the source said. However, the first vessel is yet to be fixed,” the source said.
This project has been developed basically to handle coal vessels and the total handling capacity of the terminal will be around 14 million tons per annum, the source added

“Cargo handling will be done by Adani and marine services will be done by Kandla Port. The jetty has four berths and cargos will be handled through four mobile harbour cranes and four mobile hoppers. Berth 1 and 3 are designed to handle two vessels ranging from 10,000 DWT to 100,000 DWT and berth 2 and 4 to handle two vessels ranging from 10,000 DWT to 75,000 DWT,” the source said.

Apart from that, a railway track of 16 km will be developed. Out of that 5 km will be developed by the Adani Group which is almost ready. The balance 11 km will be developed by Kandla Port which is expected to be ready by June 2015, the source added.
