Adani Power coal imports exceed January target

March 2: Adani Power (Tirora) received a total of 278,000 tons of imported steam coal in January 2015, which was much above the target of 167,000 tons set for the month, and also much above the 12,000 tons received in December 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

This private sector power utility’s coal imports during the first 10 months of 2014-15 stood at 1,918,000 tons, 115% higher from the target of 1,667,000 tons. The coal receipts in the same 10-month period in 2013-14 stood at 1,084,000 tons.

The utility had a target to import 1 million tons of coal in 2013-14, which has been doubled to 2 mt for 2014-15.
