Adani Power commissions 4th unit of Tiroda power plant

April 7: Adani Power Limited, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, commissioned the 4th unit (660MW) of its 3,300 MW (5X660), Tiroda power plant in Maharashtra, on April 3, 2014, the company said in a statement.
With this, Adani Power Limited, which currently operates power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, surpassed Tata Power Limited to be the largest private power producer of India. The company’s total installed capacity stood at 8,620 MW compared to the 8,560 MW total installed capacity of Tata Power.
The company statement said Adani Power Limited added 2,640 MW in the last financial year (2013-14), accounting for nearly 15% of the overall capacity addition of about 17,000 MW in the country.
The company commissioned two 660-MW units in the first quarter, one 660-MW unit in the third quarter and another 660-MW unit in the fourth quarter of 2013-14, two each at Tiroda in Maharashtra and at Kawai in Rajasthan. Apart from this, the Adani Group also installed a 40-MW solar power plant in the Kutch district of Gujarat.
Gautam Adani, Chairman, Adani Group, said in a statement that the company aims to generate 20,000 MW by 2020.
