Adani Power’s January coal imports at 98% of target

24 Feb 2016

In a marked deviation from December’s trend, Adani Power Limited’ Tirora thermal power plant’s coal imports were at a mere 4,000 tons in January 2016 against 168,000 tons in the previous month, according to provisional data of CEA.

However, the Mundra TPS’s coal imports in January 2016 were at 1,309,000 tons against the previous month’s 1,228,000 tons.

Much of the increase in imports at Adani Power were on account of significantly higher imports for its Mundra TPS.

Of the total imports during the month, that for the Mundra TPS stood at 1,309,000 tons against the target of 1,125,000 tons (116% materialization), while the Tirora plant’s 4,000 tons stood much lower against the target of 208,000 tons.

The total imports by Adani Power for both its power plants in January 2016 stood at 1,313,000 tons, which was 98.49% of the total target of 1,333,000 tons for the month.

The power company’s total coal imports during the first 10 months (April-January) of 2015-16 stood at 15,962,000 tons (1,935,000 tons for Tirora and 14,027,000 tons for Mundra TPS), against the target of 13,333,000 tons set for the period and up 11.47% against 14,319,000 tons imported in the first 10 months of the previous fiscal (1,918,000 tons for Tirora and 12,401,000 tons for Mundra TPS).
