Adani Power’s coal imports nosedive in December

January 14: Adani Power (Tirora) received a total of 12,000 tons (revised by CEA) of imported steam coal in December 2014, much below the target of 167,000 tons set for the month, and also down from 149,000 tons imported in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
This private sector power utility’s coal imports during the first nine months of 2014-15 stood at 1,640,000 tons, higher from the target of 1,500,000 tons.
The utility had received 199,000 tons of imported coal in December 2013. Its imports during the first nine months of 2013-14 were at 963,000 tons.
The utility had a target to import 1 million tons of coal in 2013-14, which has been doubled to 2 mt for 2014-15.
