Adani Power’s coal imports rise in June

July 17: Adani Power (Tirora) received a total of 262,000 tons of imported steam coal in June 2014, much higher than the target of 167,000 tons for the months, and also higher from 153,000 tons imported in May, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
This private sector power utility’s coal imports during the first three months of 2014-15 stood at 703,000 tons, higher by 40.6% against the target of 500,000 tons.
The utility had received 135,000 tons of imported coal in June 2013 which means its imports during the first three months of 2013-14 were only at 231,000 tons.
The utility had a target to import 1 million tons of coal in 2013-14, which has been doubled to 2 mt for 2014-15.
