Adani Power’s coal imports up 23.50% in FY’15 y-o-y

April 13: Imports of steam coal by Adani Power Limited for its domestic and imported coal-based power plants at Tirora and Mundra stood at 16.970 million tons (mt) during 2014-15, up 23.50% from 13.741 mt recorded during 2013-14, according to the provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.

During 2014-15, Adani Power’s domestic coal-based plant at Tirora had brought in 2.374 mt of the fuel while the imported coal-based plant at Mundra (Mundra TPS) had brought in 14.596 mt as compared to 1.366 mt and 12.375 mt brought in by the domestic coal-based plants and imported coal-based plants respectively in 2013-14.

Meanwhile, imports of steam coal by Adani Power in March 2015 fell 4.79% against its February 2015 figures.

Imports in March 2015 fell to 1.294 mt from 1.356 mt in February. Of these, coal imports by the Tirora plant stood at 238,000 tons in March against 218,000 tons in February while coal imports by the Mundra TPS dropped to 1,056,000 tons in March against 1,138,000 tons imported in February.

During the month, imports by Tirora plant were 143% of the target of 167,000 set by CEA for the month while that of Mundra TPS were 101% of the targeted 1,042,000 tons.

Imports in March were also up compared to 1.300 mt imported in March 2014 when Tirora brought 158,000 tons and Mundra TPS, 1,142,000 tons.
