11 Nov 2014
November 11: Adani Enterprises Limited has bagged all the four packages against NTPC’s e-tender floated in September to procure 5 million tons (mt) of imported steam coal, according to information available with ICMW.
“NTPC placed the LoI for all the packages to Adani Enterprises only last evening (November 10). It was not clear who the other contenders were because the offers were submitted online,” sources familiar with the development said.
The winning price for all the four packages is about $55 per ton FOB though the exact price for each package is different, sources said.
Adani will start supplying coal against the tender towards end-November, sources added.
The tender was invited in September.
Of the total quantity, 1.6 million tons (mt) will have to be delivered to the Ramagundam and Simhadri plants in Andhra Pradesh, 0.9 mt to Dadri (Delhi), Sipat (Chhattisgarh) and Mouda (Maharashtra), 0.7 mt to Rihand and Vindhyachal (Madhya Pradesh) and 1.8 mt to Talcher Kaniha (Odisha), Farakka (West Bengal) and Kahalgaon (Bihar).
