Land acquisition for the proposed 1,600-megawatt (MW) thermal power plant of Adani Group has kicked off in Jharkhand, a highly placed state government official told ICMW.
The Adani Group is setting up two coal-based power plants in Jharkhand with a combined capacity of 1,600 MW. The $11-billion group recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government in this regard.
The Ahmedabad-based group is reportedly investing Rs 15,000-crore in the proposed plants at Goda and Sahipench which would supply power to the Bangladesh grid. The group has entered into an agreement with Bangladesh Power Corporation for this purpose.
“The company has shown intent of investment and thus the state government has entered into Stage I preliminary MoU with the group. Within a year, the company has to finalise the site, land and other things before entering into second and final MoUs with the state,” the official said.
