Adani port shifts marine tariff rate to dollar
23 Sep 2013
September 23: Adani Port and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has converted its marine tariff from the Indian rupee to the US dollar with effect from September 11, 2013, according to a circular issued by the port.
The decision is taken in view of the widening gap between the two currencies, the port said, adding that the revised charge has been applied to the vessels that berthed after midnight of September 10, 2013.
"The dollar denomination tariff will be payable in Indian rupees after conversion of the equivalent Indian rupees at the rate notified by the Reserve bank of India (RBI) from time to time," the port said.
"The day of vessel berthing shall be used for determining the conversion/exchange rate. In case a vessel stays in the port for 30 days new conversion rate will be applicable," it further added.
Earlier, Dhamra port also opted for charging in US dollars instead of rupees.
