Adriyala project production pegged at 2.2 mt in FY16

The Adriyala Longwall project of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the largest longwall mining project in the country, is claimed to have achieved around 2.2 million tons (mt) of production in 2015-16, according to information available with ICMW.
“Adriyala’s production is estimated at 2.2 mt for 2015-16. This year, we are aiming to increase it further to 3 mt,” a company spokesperson told ICMW.
Incidentally, Adriyala suffered a major break-down related to power supply in May 2015, after which production was ramped up substantially, the official said.
The company had invited a team of Australian mining experts in December 2015 to do a week-long study on the project’s performance, equipment maintenance and future plans for getting higher production from Adriyala.
Earlier, Adriyala started a trial run in October 2014 and full-fledged operation commenced in early 2015.
In fact, the delay in commissioning of the project had affected the overall performance of SCCL in 2014-15, while the improved output contributed to the stupendous growth (of about 15%) in production this year.
