Advanced communications gear for SCCL’s Adriyala

August 7: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) plans to establish underground wireless voice and data communications system at its Adriyala Longwall project at Ramagundam.
According to information available with ICMW, the company plans to establish wireless voice over IP Telephony (VoIP) system which allows users to make calls to any other phone (both underground and above), offers push-talk functionality, text messaging and delivers emergency alarms to the user.
The wireless voice and data communications system shall capture critical data for remote monitoring of the power system, pumping system, ventilation and gas monitoring system and tracking system for men and material, including automatic signalling.
SCCL has invited expressions of interest (EoI) from interested parties to establish the said mode of communications. The last date for submission of EoIs is August 16.
The Adriyala underground project is tagged as Asia’s largest Longwall installation and is expected to start operations in 2014.
