September 11: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata stood at 9,340 tons in August 2013 against 15,314 tons recorded in July 2013, showing a decrease of 39%, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 49,654 tons in the first five months of the current fiscal, whereas the figure was at 42,990 tons in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.
During the same month last year, the imports stood at 26,867 tons.

In August, 2013, 888 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 25,985 – Rs 26,980 ($398-$436) per ton, 800 tons arrived from Russia at Rs 9,451 ($154) per ton, 7,652 tons arrived from Ukraine in a price band of Rs 10,003 – Rs 12,954 ($153- $198) per ton.
In July, however, 13,200 tons came in from Russia at Rs 9162 ($154) per ton, 983 tons arrived from Singapore at a unit price of Rs 10,464 ($173) and 1131 tons arrived from Ukraine in a price band of Rs 10,113 – Rs 11,366 ($167-$188) per ton.
