December 12: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata stood at 8,560 tons in November 2013 against 10,931 tons reported in October 2013, showing a 21.69% drop, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 70,153 tons in the first eight months of the current fiscal, whereas the figure was at 52,840 tons in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.
During the same month in 2012-13, the imports stood at 6,976 tons, showing a 22.70% year-on-year increase in November this year.

In November, 8,464 tons arrived from Ukraine in a range of Rs 7,269-Rs 11,422 ($115-$183) per ton and the balance came in from China at a unit price of Rs 26,340 ($416).
In October 2013, however, 9,899 tons arrived from Ukraine in a price band of Rs 10,310-Rs 11,538 ($161-$185) per ton and 1032 tons arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 28,183 ($441).
