Anthracite coal imports via Mundra fall sharply in August

September 9: Coking coal imports through Mundra port during the month of August 2013 stood at 108 tons, sharply down from 33,646 tons imported in July, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The total import of coking coal through Mundra port in the first five months of 2013-14 stood at 39,407 tons while the figure stood at nil in the same period of the previous financial year.

In August 2013, the entire quantity came from China at a price range of Rs 20,183-Rs 20,608 ($326-$333) per ton.
However, during July 2013, 96 tons came from China at a price of Rs 20,150 ($333) per ton, 33,000 tons came from South Africa at a price of Rs 7,370 ($122) per ton while 550 tons came from Ukraine at a price of Rs 9,758 ($165) per ton.
