April steam coal imports via Paradip up 36.21% m-o-m

May 22: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip rose 36.21% to 433,614 tons in April 2014 against a volume of 318,344 tons reported in March 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in April 2013 stood at 518,579 tons.
Total team coal imports through the port during the entire financial year of 2013-14 were at 6,907,374 tons.

In April, imports included 384,489 tons from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,725 - Rs 5,225 ($45-86) per ton and 49,125 tons from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 5,373 ($89).
During the last month of the previous financial year, however, all the steam coal import consignments via Paradip arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,846 - Rs 4,647 ($46-$74) per ton.
