A number of power stocks are offering attractive prices and, as a result, these are showing a slow but steady growth even though the Sensex was down on April 1.
Stock market traders think that power stocks are fundamentally strong and hence these are good buys.
The S&P BSE Power index increased 13.66 points (2.77%) to close at 1,789.39 on April 1, from the previous closing of 1,775.73. The highs and lows on April 1 were 1,797.73 and 1,773.99 respectively.
Global markets such as DAX and FTSE and the domestic index, the Sensex, all were trading in the red.
The Sensex decreased 72.22 points (0.28%) to close at 25,269.64.
On April1, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by Jaiprakash Power, with the stock increasing 7.26% to close at Rs 5.02. The maximum loss was registered by JSW Energy, with the stock decreasing 2.16% to close at Rs 68.
