Asian, African coal imports via RBCT up 6.31% in 2013

January 20: Imports of coal from South Africa's Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) by African and Asian countries, excluding India, rose by 6.31% in 2013 as compared to the quantity imported during 2012, revealed data available with ICMW.

During 2013, total coal imports by African and Asian countries, stood at 28,930,420 tons as compared to 27,213,022 tons imported during the corresponding period last year.

On the other hand, imports of coal from RBCT by African and Asian countries, excluding India, rose by 52.39% to 2,961,688 tons during December 2013 compared to 1,943,518 tons imported during November 2013, revealed data available with ICMW.

Imports in December this year were also higher compared to 1,838,558 tons recorded during the same month in 2012, the data revealed.
