Aug anthracite coal imports via Kolkata drop 60.65% m-o-m

September 25: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata declined 60.65% to 13,041 tons in August 2014 against a volume of 33,146 tons in July, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In August 2013, a volume of 9,340 tons had been imported.
Imports for the first five months of the current fiscal were at 96,064 tons against a volume of 49,654 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Total anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 160,858 tons for the entire financial year of 2013-14.

In August, anthracite imports included 12,402 tons from Ukraine in a range of Rs 8,706 – Rs 10,882 ($143 – Rs 179) per ton and the balance 639 tons from China in a range of Rs 22,328 – Rs 25,258 ($368-408) per ton.
In July, imports comprised 17,600 tons from Russia at a unit price of Rs 8,164 ($136), 15,000 tons from Ukraine in a band of Rs 6,860 – Rs 6,929 ($13-114) per ton and 546 tons from China in a range of Rs 23,722 – Rs 26,572 ($391-442) per ton.
