Aug met coke imports via Kolkata up by over 200% m-o-m

September 25: Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata surge more than 200% to 46,096 tons in August 2014 against a volume of 14,479 tons reported in July, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Met coke imports in August 2013 were at 110,718 tons.
Imports of the material for the first five months of the current fiscal of 2014-15 were thus at 259,389 tons against 292,359 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total met coke imports via Kolkata Port stood at 510,327 tons for the full financial year of 2013. Following are the details of met coke imports via Kolkata Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In August, met coke imports comprised 31,664 tons from China in a band of Rs 11,878 – Rs 13,505 ($194-218) per ton, 10,000 tons from Russia in a band of Rs 12,633 – Rs 13,004 ($204-212) per ton, 4,400 tons from Ukraine at a unit price of Rs 13,743 ($222) while the balance 32 tons came from Japan at a unit price of Rs 38,073 ($616).
In July, all the met coke consignments arrived from China in a range of Rs 12,808-Rs 12,882 ($213-214) per ton.
