Aug steam coal imports via New Mangalore fall 61% m-o-m

September 22: Non-coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during August 2014 fell 61.28% to 126,430 tons from 326,505 tons recorded in July, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In August 2013, non-coking coal imports via the port stood at 84,712 tons.
Total imports of non-coking coal through New Mangalore Port in April-August, 2014-15 stood at 1,251,978 tons against 2,168,938 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During August 2014, 80,430 tons came in from Australia at a price of Rs 5,626 ($92) per ton, 2,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 4,583 ($74) per ton while the balance 44,000 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,583-Rs 5,325 ($74-$87) per ton.
However, in July 2014, out of the total quantity, 84,358 tons came in from Australia at a price of Rs 5,497 ($91) per ton while the balance 242,147 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,975-Rs 5,587 ($66-$92) per ton.
