Aug steam coal imports via Paradip down 9.07% m-o-m

September 17: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip dropped 9.07% to 526,612 tons in August 2014 against 579,172 tons reported in July, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports in August 2013, stood a little lower at 435,036 tons.
In the first five months of the current financial year (2014-15), steam coal imports through the port stood at 3031,499 tons against 3,249,688 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Total steam coal imports in 2013-14 were at 6,907,374 tons

In August, 227,597 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,491 – Rs 3,349 ($41-55) per ton, 271,369 tons from South Africa in a range of Rs 1,770 – Rs 5,519 ($29-91) per ton while the balance 27,646 tons arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 4,340 ($70).
In July, 388,185 tons were imported from Indonesia in a range of Rs 2,564 – Rs 4,263 ($42-71) per ton, 168,622 tons arrived from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,916 – Rs 5,519 ($81-91) per ton while the balance 22,365 tons came in from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,251 (71).
