August steam coal imports via Kandla down 3% m-o-m

September 11: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 650,566 tons in August 2014, down 2.96% from 670,415 tons imported in July, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of steam coal through the port during August 2013 stood at 633,912 tons.
Imports of steam coal through the port during the first five months of FY’15 stood at 3, 030,287 tons while the same stood at 3,089,726 tons during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port in 2014-15 and 2014-13:

In August 2014, 383,198 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,362-Rs 5,981 ($22-$97) per ton while 267,368 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,509-Rs 6,058 ($73-$98) per ton.
However, during July 2014, 465,426 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,326-Rs 6,253 ($39-$104) per ton, 128,499 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,020-Rs 5,857 ($84-$97) per ton. The balance 76,490 tons came in from the US at a price range of Rs 5,988-Rs 6,099 ($100-$101) per ton.
