April 2: After maintaining a brief firm trend on March 31, that helped indices to settle high, spot prices of Australian steam coal softened on April 1 on continued absence of major buying activities, industry sources said.
Prices of steam coal of other origins, however, remained unchanged at around their previous levels, they added.
Following are the indicative prices of coal in various markets and indicative freight rates on April 1:
