Average ship turnaround time improves at Haldia

The average turn-round time for ships at the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of the Kolkata Port Trust has reduced to 2.33 days in 2015-16, registering an improvement of 10.04% from 2.59 days in 2014-15, according to provisional data received from the port.

As per HDC source, the dock handled a total of 2,026 ships during financial year 2015-16 compared to 1,905 ships handled during the previous year with an increased berth occupancy of 72% from 66%.

On the other hand, the average output per ship touched 7,790 tons in 2015-16, up 14.53% compared to 6,802 tons in 2014-15, the source claimed.

Similarly the pre-berthing detention at the HDC has also been reduced to 3.57 hours in 2015-16, registering an improvement of 69.85% from 11.84 hours during 2014-15, the source added.
