BCCL defers bid submission dates for washeries

December 27: Due to changes in the tender clauses, Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) has deferred the last date for submission of bids for its three washery projects at Patherdih II, Dugda and Bhojudih, a senior company official told ICMW.

Accordingly, the last date for Patherdih II has been shifted to January 13, while the same for Dugda and Bhojudih are January 6 and February 10, respectively, the official said.

The dates were extended to accommodate changes proposed by Coal India Ltd (CIL), he said. CIL recently decided to change the compensation paid to workers engaged in the construction and operations of coal washeries.

As per the recommendation of the committee, workers engaged in the construction of washery projects would now be paid wages as per the Minimum Wages Act (for state or Centre, whichever is higher). The workers deployed for the operations of washeries, however, would be paid wages as per CIL wage structures.
