BHEL commissions RRVUNL’s 4th thermal power unit

July1: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), on July 1, said that it has commissioned another 250 MW thermal power unit at the Chhabra Thermal Power Project, valued nearly Rs 990 crore, of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL).
“With the commissioning of this fourth 250 MW unit at Chhabra TPP, the capacity of the coal-based thermal power plant has gone up to 1,000 MW,” a company statement said.
This is part of Stage II expansion of the thermal power project. Earlier, BHEL commissioned three units of similar rating at the Stage I and Stage II of the power project.
The equipment for the project was supplied by BHEL's Haridwar, Trichy, Ranipet and Bangalore plants, while BHEL’s Power sector - northern region undertook erection and commissioning or the equipment.
BHEL'S scope of work in the contract with RRVUNL envisage design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam generator and steam turbine generators and associated auxiliaries with controls and instrumentation (C&l) system.
