Bihar gets Green nod for Barauni thermal power project

May 23: The Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) recently received the environment clearance from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) to set up a 2x250 MW Barauni (extension) thermal power project at Barauni, Bihar.
The project cost is estimated at around Rs 3,666 crore.
The project had been awarded tapering linkage from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) till the linked captive coal block – Urma Paharitola- becomes operational.
The clearance has been given subject to use of coal with sulphur content not exceeding 0.6% and ash content not exceeding 40.1%.
