CBI summons ex-Coal Controller in Electrosteel case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in continuation of its investigation into Electrosteel Castings Ltd, a Kolkata-headquartered steel-maker, has summoned a former Coal Controller for examination in connection with the company’s coal blocks, sources told ICMW.

Former Coal Controller Amrit Acharya has been summoned by the apex investigation agency at its office on January 22, sources added.

Electrosteel Castings had been allotted Parbatpur (Central) and North Dhadu coal blocks under the screening committee route in the years 2005 and 2006 respectively.

The company had even commenced mining of coal from Parbatpur till all the blocks were de-allocated by the Supreme Court in September 2014.
