CIL July output up, offtake down y-o-y

August 4: Coal India Limited (CIL), on August 4, said its production during July 2014 increased slightly compared to the level in July 2013 while off-take during the month registered a marginal drop compared to the same month a year ago.

On a month-on-month basis too both production and off-take of the company dropped compared to that in June 2014.

Production in July 2014 stood at 33.01 million tons (mt), up from 32.77 mt produced in June 2013, whereas off-take fell to 38.04 mt from 38.22 mt recorded in the corresponding month in 2013, according to provisional data released by the company.

On month-on-month basis, the company’s production was down 4.43% from 34.54 mt produced in June 2014 whereas offtake fell marginally from 38.29 mt in June 2014.

During April-July of 2014-15, production and off-take by the world’s largest coal miner stood at 141.34 mt and 157.59 mt, up 4.20% and 2.68% respectively over the corresponding period of 2013-14.

For the current financial year, the company has set a production target of 507 mt and offtake target of 520 mt. Its production and off-take targets for April-July, 2014 were 148.81 mt and 171.43 mt respectively.

According to available data, the company’s actual production in July 2014 was 92% of the targeted 35.80 mt while off–take during June 2014 was 94% of the target of 40.48 mt.
