CIL November production, off-take up m-o-m

December 2: Coal India Limited (CIL) has reported healthier growth both in production and off-take in November 2013 compared to that in October 2013.

The company's coal production (provisional) in November rose 11.90% to 39.20 million tons (mt) from 35.03 mt in October 2013, while off-take rose 9.15% to 38.76 mt in November 2013, against 35.51 mt in October, recovering from marginal drop in the previous month (October2013).

This is the third month in a row when CIL's production increased, after a consistent fall in both production and off-take since April.

According to data provided by the company, production had been falling consistently from a high of 35.75 mt in April to 34.50 mt in May and to 32.57 mt in June. Output inched up to 32.77 mt in July but dropped again to 31.38 mt in August. The September production of the company rose to 33.16 mt while the October production stood at 35.03 mt.

On a year on year basis too, production of CIL was up by 4.25% from 37.60 mt in the corresponding month last year (November 2012) while off-take in November was marginally up from 38.56 mt from November 2012.

Production in November was 93% of the target of 41.93 mt whereas off-take was 93% of the target of 41.65 mt. In October, CIL's production was 86% of the target of 40.82 mt whereas off-take was 85% of the target of 41.55 mt.

The company's total coal production during first eight months (April-November) of 2013-14 stood at 274.71 mt of the target of 289.38 mt and was almost 3.66% up from 264.99 mt produced in the same period last year (April-November 2012-13).

Off-take during the first eight months (April-November) of 2013-14 stood at 298.63 mt which is almost 96 % of the target of 310.43 mt and a 2.05 % increase over 292.62 mt reported for the same period last year (April-November of 2012-13).
