CIL, SCCL despatches to power units up 9% in FY15

April 13: Despatches of coal by domestic miners Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) to power utilities in 2014-15 stood at 423.38 million tons (mt), up 9.09% from 388.10 mt recorded during the last fiscal (2013-14), according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Of the total despatches in 2014-15, a volume of 384.18 mt was sent by CIL and 39.21 mt by SCCL. In 2013-14, CIL had despatched 353.83 mt coal to power utilities whereas SCCL had despatched 34.27 mt.

During March 2015, the two companies had despatched a total of 40.01 mt of coal compared to 35.81 mt in February 2015.

Of the total despatches in March 2015, CIL’s despatches were at 35.83 mt while’s SCCL’s share was at 4.18 mt. In February 2015, CIL’s despatches were at 32.38 mt while SCCL’s share was at 3.42 mt, respectively.

On the other hand, in March 2014, CIL had despatched 33.25 mt and SCCL, 3.70 mt.
