CIL board nod for MCL’s Hemgir STTP project report

November 28: State–owned Coal India Limited, on November 28, said its board of directors approved a project report for a coal-based super-critical thermal plant (STPP) to be set up by its subsidiary, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), at Hemgir in the Sundargarh district of Odisha.
According to a filing to the BSE, the company said the project report was approved at the board meeting held on November 8, 2014.
The proposed 2X800 MW (1,600 MW) coal-based STPP is being set up by Mahanadi Basin Power Limited (MBPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MCL, with a total capital investment of Rs 11,363.18 crore.
