CIL board reviews okay to Hemgir project

February 24: The Coal India board, at its meeting on February 13, 2015, had reviewed its approval to the project report on setting up the 2x800-MW coal-based super-critical thermal power plant at Hemgir, in the Sundergarh district of Odisha, according to a notice sent by the company to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Consequently, in reviewing its decision, it accorded its approval for the first year’s expenditure of Rs 1,019 crore to start the work towards setting up the above-mentioned project.
The board also advised that as soon as CIL had a full board, the proposal would be placed for its consideration for the approval of the project report.
The power project is being set up by CIL subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL) through its subsidiary Mahanadi Basin Power Limited (MBPL), at a total capital investment of Rs 11,363.18 crore.
