CIL disinvestment a prelude to coal de-nationalisation: AICWF
11 Sep 2014
September 11: The trade unions of Coal India Ltd (CIL), on September 11, urged CIL workers and employees to make the three-day work-to-rule strike on September 18-20 a success, while alleging that the government’s move to disinvest 10% share in the state-owned miner is a prelude to complete de-nationalisation of the coal sector.
In a statement, Jibon Roy, General Secretary, All India Coal Workers Federation (AICWF), said the federation has “found the 10% disinvestment move as a prelude for getting the coal de-nationalisation Bill carried through Parliament.”
He also strongly opposed the moves to restructure CIL and reduce e-auction volumes and said the coal ministry should have taken steps to return captive blocks to the CIL fold immediately after the coal scam report by the Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG).
