CIL expects to sign FSAs for 60,000 MW soon

03 Sep 2013

September 3: Coal India Ltd (CIL) expects to soon sign fuel supply agreements (FSAs) with power plants for a total capacity of 60,000 MW as directed by the government in 2012.

"We expect to sign FSAs with a total of 173 plants with total generation capacity of 60,000 MW soon," a senior official with the company told ICMW.

Till August 23, the company had signed 93 FSAs with total generation capacity of about 40,000 MW.

Meanwhile, the company had, in July, received a revised directive from the Ministry of Coal to sign FSAs to the extent of 78,000 MW generation capacity with plants that had come to operation after April 2009 or will come to operation by March 2015.

"We had signed 93 FSA of the total 173 till August 23. The process for the rest is on the roll. A large number of FSA had been signed after August 23, the details of which would be available soon," the official said.

"We had expected to sign 35-40 more FSAs between August 24 and 31, but the number is yet to be reconciled," the official added.
