CIL finalises reports for 78 new projects

August 28: Coal India Limited (CIL) has formulated project report for more than half of its upcoming projects scheduled to be completed at the end of current Five-Year Plan.

“Project reports of 78 projects out of another 126 identified have already been formulated,” the company said in its annual report for 2012-13.

It also said the company expects 60 of those 126 projects to contribute 88 million tons of coal production during the final year of the 12th Plan (2016-17).

Meanwhile, the company’s 148 on-going projects, costing Rs 2 crore and above, are in different stages of implementation. The ultimate capacity of these on-going projects is 446.75 million tons per annum, with sanctioned capital outlay of Rs 32,004.54 crore, the report said,

The envisaged contribution during the terminal year of the 12th Plan (2016-17) is 335.46 mtpa from 134 of the total 148 on-going projects.

The report said, of the total 148 on-going projects, 85 had contributed to the tune of 212.04 mt during the terminal year of the 11th Five-Year Plan, i.e. 2011-12, while in the first year of the 12th Plan, 90 on-going projects contributed 260.80 mt.

Of the 148 on-going projects, both forestry and environmental clearances have already been received for 90, but environmental clearances are awaited for nine projects while 34 await forestry clearances.

“For the remaining 15 projects, both forestry and environmental clearances are awaited,” the report said.
