CIL has 148 ongoing projects with capacity of 484 mtpa

August 13: Coal India Ltd (CIL) has 148 ongoing projects costing Rs 2 crore and above under various stages of implementation as of July 2014.

According to its annual report for the year 2013-14, the total capacity of these projects is 484.06 million tons per annum (mtpa). The sanctioned capital outlay for the same is Rs 39,821.50 crore.

“During 2013-14, 74 ongoing projects have contributed 239.97 mt and the envisaged contribution from 134 ongoing projects during the terminal year of XII Plan, ie, 2016-17, is 335.93 mt,” the miner said.

Of these 148 ongoing projects, 95 have both forestry (FC) and environmental clearances (EC). ECs are awaited for 4 projects, FCs are awaited for 27 and for the balance 22 projects, both FC and EC are awaited, it added.
