CIL may appeal against HC order on officers’ promotion

November 17: Coal India Ltd (CIL) may appeal before a Division Bench of Calcutta High Court seeking review of an order passed by the court setting aside promotion of around 550 mid-level Coal India officers amid allegations of favouritism in the evaluation process.

“The management may appeal before a Division Bench against the order passed in September,” an informed source told ICMW.

The promotions, from senior manager to chief manager levels, were granted by CIL in April 2013, on the basis of a new policy that put performance ahead of seniority.
