CIL mulling use of mechanically covered trucks, tippers

In a bid to reduce wastage during road transportation, Coal India Ltd (CIL) is considering deploying mechanically covered trucks and tippers for transport of coal from mines to stock yards/rail sidings.

“CIL is in the process of identifying the possibility of transport of coal through mechanically covered trucks/tippers,” the company said in a recent notification.

To this end, the company has decided to hold a meeting with reputed truck manufacturers (or their authorised representatives) on May 7.
