CIL outstanding dues from power utilities at Rs 10,000 cr

September 28: The total outstanding dues receivable by Coal India (CIL) from the country’s power utilities stands at about Rs 10,000 crore, a senior official from the company told ICMW.

“As of now, the total outstanding dues from power utilities will be close to Rs 10,000 crore. The exact figure may be a little more or less than this,” the official said.

He, however, said that the amount has eased slightly as compared to the start of financial year 2015-16. According to data released by the company, the dues amount stood at around Rs 12,000 crore as of end-May, 2015.

Asked about the disputed dues of NTPC, the country’s largest power utility, sources said that the amount has come down to Rs 600 crore as of August 31 from Rs 900 crore as on March 31.
